O Gauge Railroading magazine's first

OGR invites you to exploit the versatility of our popular Ameri-Towne building kits. Get out your hobby tools, paints, adhesives, and various detail items and create a distinctive structure destined to be a focal point on your layout.

Kitbashing” involves creating a new model by combining various parts of existing, commercially available kits to form a new structure. Kitbashing is often done to model a real-life object for which a suitable commercial kit is not made, or to create an entirely freelanced model. For this contest, the only real requirement is that one or more Ameri-Towne kits be used as the basis for the modeled structure

Guidelines for submitting entries:

  • Core structure must be comprised of major components from one or more
    Ameri-Towne building kits.

  • Structure must be an original creation, and photos of the structure must
not have been previously published in any medium.

  • Any commercially available parts, or parts fabricated by the modeler,
may be added to the basic structure.
  • Painting, weathering, and detailing the kitbashed structure is not required
but is strongly encouraged because the overall presentation will weigh
    heavily in judging.
  • Entrants should submit at least four (4) individual photos of their completed structure—good quality views of the front, rear, and each side. Photos can be 35mm slides, glossy prints, or in digital form (high resolution JPEG images preferred).
  • A written description of the project should accompany each entry, including
as much information as possible about what the project represents and how
it was built. Complete contact information, including full name, mailing address,
daytime phone number, and e-mail address (if any) must be included with each entry.
  • One entry per individual, please!

To be eligible for consideration,
all entries must be received at
OGR's office not later than
5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.

Send completed entries to:
